The Advent series for 2025 is "The Shepherd-King." All four sermons will come from Micah 5:4. The first sermon is the title and the job description of Jesus, the coming Messiah. He is a faithful shepherd. Jesus is the promised Messiah and as part of that promise He is also promised to stand out and shepherd. In other words, there will be and is no mistaking who Yahweh God's chosen Son is. He will branch forth and spring out among all His contempararies. Jesus is promised to shepherd unlike the priest-shepherds of Israel who only shepherded for their own gain. At Christmas-time, Christ is celebrated as the newborn King. However, at Christmas-time, Christ the newborn King is the promised shepherd that Micah and others pointed to.
