Ephesians 4:17-19

Paul gives a bleak description of the life of the unbeliever. It serves as a reminder as to who Christians used to be while living in sin. However, it sheds light on the marvelous work of Christ on our behalf. What unbelievers need is the gospel. The only way to see the light and flee from the darkness is to have their heart changed by the power of the gospel. Unbelievers in darkness live lives that lack feeling, concern, or care for anyone else. Instead, as verse 19 states, they live and feed off of their own lusts and greed. Knowing that the fight is not against the physical or tangible facets of the world is made all the more clear as the sinful lives of ungodly people constitutes a deep spiritual need that is only met in the precious blood of Christ that He shed on the cross.
