After generally speaking on imitating God, Paul gives specifics on what that looks like in verses 3-5. In these verses there are do's and dont's but it doesn't end there. There are two groups of sins, one in verse 3 and one in verse 4. Verse 3 is repeated in verse 5 with the eternal consequences of those sins made known. Also, there is a certainty that those who live in sin without Christ will not inherit the kingdom of God. This text is black and white in a world where everything is muddied and attempted to be blended together. Although this text is not the most delightful in scope, there is always hope and that is seen in the fact that God has made His people brand new. These things were once said of us (1 Corinthians 6:9-11) but are true no longer. Let's take this text as a warning, but also fix our eyes upon Christ who keeps us on the straight and narrow until that blessed day where we see the inheritance He has prepared for us in its fullness.
