In another contrast, Paul says that Christians are to have nothing to do with darkness. He could not be any more dogmatic about it then showing why. Christians are to have nothing to do with the works of darkness because they are useless. There is no benefit or result that resounds in favor. Now being light, doing the deeds of darkness are incompatible with such a life.
Exposing the deeds of darkness is sometimes uncomfortable and people will hate it. Consider Jesus calling out the Pharisees in Matthew 23 and they ultimately killed Him in anger. However, there is blessing in exposing sins. Some Pharisees came to know Jesus as Lord and we see that in life today with unsaved people.
Exposing sin is good for Christians. Christians who harbor sins against other Christians is not healthy. Bringing these sins to light brings reconciliation and healing to relationships. Further, it brings both parties closer to Christ. Exposing sin is done in the face of God knowing every sin and at the end of time, He will bring every sin to the light. Exposing sin believer to believer is not done with condemnation as the desired end result. Rather, the edification (building up) and sanctfication of the believer is the end goal in mind.
