What Submittance Looks Like pt.2

After laying the foundation with Christ and the church, we come to the controversial nature at hand which is the submission of wives. Why is it controversial? Because the world is an unsaved people. The context of verse 22 is fixed upon Christ bought wives in the local church at Ephesus. Succinctly, an unbelieving wife cannot submit to a husband as to the Lord. She would not want to. This being said, the call is high for wives to submit unto the Lord and to model forth an example of what this looks like to the next generation. Husbands, do you encourage your wife to submit to the Lord first, before you? The entirety of the marriage text in verses 22-33 is fixed upon looking to Christ first before anyone else. The same is true for the submission of the wife. She does so out of her great love for Jesus and her gratitude for all that He has done for her. It is with the mindset induced by regeneration via the Holy Spirit that brings forth God glorifying submission.
