Psalm 99:1-5

Psalm 99, as a whole, is a testimony of the power, might, and holiness of God. Why this for Resurrection Sunday? Because it is these things that brought forth the Son of God out of the tomb. The Lord Jesus rose from the grave in triumphant victory with great power that endures through all eternity. It took a powerful and big God to destroy sin and death.

Because of this, Yahweh God is worthy to be worshipped and exalted. That is commanded in verse 5. It is the privilege and joy of the Christian to worship and exalt God. The Bible speaks to all men at one point bowing before Him. His grace is great that men are able to, right now, worship Him in joy and happiness. In His justice, He would be right to condemn man because of his sin, but He does not just finish off man and leave him to die in his sin. No! Rather, He sent Jesus to this earth to die a gruesome death and raise from the tomb so that His people would come to Him with the most exuberant and joyous worship.
