Paul moves from wives to husbands. However, as Paul did with wives, it is right and proper to look to Jesus Christ before correct expectations can be given and made of husbands. Jesus is the greater than and He is the example that goes before every husband. The love of Christ is seen in His care and affection for the church. He loves her so much that He will perfect her throughout all eternity.
Jesus has set His bride apart as the most special and wonderful. All of these truths of Jesus in verses 25-27 are the call to men as husbands and as fathers setting the example for kids and grandkids. The question is, does your example follow the example set before by Jesus? It is with this that we begin this section of Ephesians 5.
