Ephesians 5:22-24

One of the more controversial passages of our day is this one that contains the role of the wife. However, before the wife and husband can be properly examined, first must come the role of the church's subjection to Christ as her head. This Paul clearly speaks to in verses 23 and 24.

The church is subject to Christ for 3 particular reasons which are, Christ is the head, Christ saves and preserves her, and she depends on Him. To more clearly see the role of wives subjecting to their husbands, the Holy Spirit, through the apostle Paul, gives an example of what subjection looks like through the church being subject to Christ.

There is one fundamental difference that must be acknowledged and that is man is sinful and Jesus is not. However, the church today can benefit greatly as to how to subject to one another and the wives in subjection to their husbands. What is missing from the worldly equation in this matter is that the world refuses to look vertical to what God has to say on the matter. Before we can rightly see the wife and husband, we must see the church and Jesus.
