Ephesians 4:29-30

Quite possibly the greatest outpouring of Christian life is a tongue that bears no corruption. Paul continues his giving of commands to the local church. This time he turns to the human tongue, the speech that comes from it, and how it is used depending on the situation. Words are of value when they are used at the right place and time. The end of my speech as a Christian is to lavishly spread grace to all who would hear the words that proceed from my mouth. On top of a wise tongue, every Christian is called by God to not grieve the Holy Spirit. It is quite the easy task to grieve the Spirit. How so? Because Christians grieve the Spirit whether in word, deed, or thought. Therefore, the warning and admonition is to keep watch on our lives so that we may not grieve the Spirit. For He has done the greatest of works, that is to seal us permanently until we see the glorious day of redemption, as we behold the glorious face of our Lord Jesus.
